Join Honeygirl Flowers at the Hanover Arts and Activities Center for a week of flower fun! Sessions will run the week of July 8th from 9 a.m.-noon. Campers (rising third through eighth-graders) will learn the basics of creating beautiful flower arrangements in vases, of course, but flowers can be used for so much more! We will create:
- fresh flower crowns, hand-tied bouquets, and fresh flower jewelry…
- felt flowers for floral barrettes and headbands, painted flower designs, embossed flower images, hand-crafted paper flowers, and more...
- decorated cookies and cupcakes with flower designs and our own homemade floral ice-cream.
We will leave the Center behind for several walking field trips to local gardens and shops and hear from a variety of local experts and business owners about how they work with flowers and sell their own blooms.
I taught full-time in the public school system for 35 years, including the last 20 as a fifth-grade teacher in Ashland. I still teach science resource classes at Gandy Elementary on a part-time basis. Several veteran teachers will assist me daily at Camp Bloom.
Cost of the week-long camp is $150. For more information and to register (online registration starts March 1), visit http://hanoverarts.org
