These are a few of my favorite things...
Some people just do it better...as I work at and attend events, certain vendors truly stand out. They are gracious hosts, thoughtful co-workers, fun-loving DJs, amazing chefs, skillful photographers and genuinely nice people. Here are a few I think are worth a look!
Liz Daley Events-Liz provided the music and announcements for a recent wedding I both attended and created florals for. The music shifted seamlessly from classic swing and jazz during the cocktail hour to pop tunes from the 60's and 70's for early dancing and into more modern crowd pleasers as the night moved on. Almost all of the guests were on their feet and dancing! Liz also moved us effortlessly and cheerfully through entrances, toasts, first dances, and the cake cutting.
The Virginia Cliffe Inn-How many times does the florist get hugged by the owner of a venue as she arrives to do the flowers? Not often, but that is the kind of reception you get at the Virginia Cliffe. The front of the house is a beautiful spot for a ceremony under the shade of towering trees...and the back is a mosaic of pavilions, arbors, a billowing tent, grassy courtyards, and even a pond with two swans named Romeo and Juliet! Small lights twinkle throughout the venue creating a magical feel as the sun sets. The pricing for the venue is as special as the people and the place.
A Sharper Palate Catering-Mouth-watering...tempting...gorgeous...scrumptious. There are not enough adjectives to describe the catering I enjoyed from A Sharper Palate at a recent wedding. As a person who does some small buffet and appetizer catering, I scrutinized everything they did from the set up full of golden serving pieces and fresh flowers, to the beautiful plating of the appetizers, to the passed hors d'oeuvres...each a tiny work of delicious art. It was like a master class in catering! Besides that, every server was simply so nice. They found places at their stations for extra flower arrangements I put together on site and placed the flowers on my friend Mel's pretty little cakes with a delicate touch.
Get Cozy Vintage Mobile Bars-If you want to add a truly unique touch to your wedding, talk to Get Cozy...mobile bars crafted from vintage vehicles from which you can serve almost everything...from prosecco to cotton candy! They look great decked out with flowers (ahem...) and they create memorable photo ops, as well. Some are small enough to even fit inside a closed venue, traveling through double doors with ease. Your friends and family will talk about this touch for years, and I think you will be very surprised by the reasonable cost for this charming addition to your event.
Mel's Cakes- If you asked ten people on the street in Ashland, "Who makes the best cake?", all ten would yell, "Mel!" Mel worked in the catering business for years in a wide variety of settings. An accomplished baker, she whips out cakes, scones, and delicious desserts with ease. At my school, we fought over having Mel's kids in our classroom so she would bake us cakes! Although wedding cakes often look delicious, taste is a different story. Mel's cakes are both deliciously flavorful and moist...and beautiful. If you are interested in considering a cake from Mel, I am her point of contact.
